Obesity expert sees measures as 'free ride' for food industry

The scientist who led research showing that obesity is rising less rapidly than previously predicted has cast doubt on the effectiveness of government policies to tackle the problem.

Klim McPherson, chairman of the National Heart Forum and visiting professor of public health epidemiology at Oxford university, called for tougher measures against food and drink companies on labelling, advertising and pricing.
