Supreme Court mulls fate of death row Mexicans

The US Supreme Court on Monday struggled to decide the fate of 51 Mexicans on death row in the US, in a case that could profoundly affect the treatment of foreigners arrested in America and of Americans detained abroad.

The justices clashed on Monday over the role of international law in deciding US legal disputes, and over the power of the president to tell the states and the courts how to interpret treaties made with foreign countries.
