Rail misery as signallers strike

Thousands of Scottish rail journeys were disrupted on Tuesday as signal workers staged the first of two strikes in a dispute over rosters.

Network Rail workers walked out for 24 hours from noon and are due to strike again tomorrow. But management and the Rail Maritime and Transport Union will meet at Acas, the conciliation service, on Wednesday to try to resolve the dispute.
