Cathay expects ‘disappointing’ 2008 results

Cathay Pacific on Wednesday warned of “disappointing” first half profits as a result of soaring jet fuel prices.

The Hong Kong-based carrier said it was paying 60 per cent more for fuel in the first half of this year compared with the same period a year ago. Jet fuel prices have risen 55.2 per cent so far this year, according to Bloomberg data.
