When Stomana Industry, a Greek-owned steel-maker, opened a new rolling mill last month at its plant near Sofia, Georgi Parvanov, Bulgaria’s president, arrived half-an-hour early to cut the ribbon at the opening ceremony.
Mr Parvanov praised the Viohalco group, Stomana’s parent, which also controls Bulgarian companies producing copper pipes and aluminium profiles, as a model investor. “Both our countries have benefited,” he said.
