Traders wary ahead of Fed rate decision

21:45 GMT. A reluctance by traders to take fresh positions ahead of the Federal Reserve’s last interest rate decision of the year left stock markets struggling to make headway on Tuesday.

The FTSE World index fell 0.6 per cent in activity that is rapidly thinning as the holiday season approaches.
