Hostilities are over, says Brown’s critic

A Labour rebel and severe critic of Gordon Brown declared that “hostilities are over” on Monday as MPs rallied behind the newly emboldened prime minister.

The near-apology by George Howarth, who weeks ago had called for a leadership contest, came in a gathering of the Parliamentary Labour Party that exemplified the sudden outbreak of unity in the party.
