Recruiters line up for welfare-to-work schemes

Companies supplying recruitment services to help the disabled and long-term unemployed into jobs could be competing for a £3bn market as a result of plans to overhaul welfare benefits announced last week by the government.

Contracts awarded to private and voluntary-sector contractors under various New Deal and Pathways to Work programmes introduced since Labour came to power already total about £1bn.
