Turkish buyer rescues Select Retail from near-collapse

Women's fashion chain Select Retail has been rescued from administration by a Turkish buyer after a near-collapse prompted by difficult trading conditions.

The Watford-based chain, which has 250 shops nationwide and employs 1,800 people, had been "within days" of bankruptcy, according to Nigel Fisher, managing director.
