VeriSign parts company with CEO

VeriSign, the world’s leading provider of the electronic certificates that help secure internet traffic, on Thursday announced the departure of its chief executive.

The company said William Roper, who joined the VeriSign board in 2003 and took the top job last year, had agreed to step down as CEO and vacate his board seat.
