Philippines to buy more rice after floods

Massive flooding triggered by heavy rains in the northern Philippines hit the country’s main rice producing provinces on Friday, as Typhoon Parma left scores of people dead or missing.

Adding to the woes of a nation still recovering from the impact of two disastrous typhoons in as many weeks, flooding in the main island of Luzon would see the world’s biggest rice importer having to buy even more rice from other countries.
