UK retail sales worsen in March

The pain on British high streets worsened in March, as retailers reported further falls in sales and said they did not expect any improvement next month, according to a survey by the CBI employers group.

The fall in sales reported on Wednesday snuffs out flickers of hope that emerged last month, when data showed some sign of improvement in retail and comes on the day that many retailers face paying millions of pound in rent to their landlords.
