Six months after Hussain Al Qemzi led the initiative to launch the United Arab Emirates’ Noor Islamic Bank, the institution’s chief executive is working on ambitious expansion plans.

He is looking at ideas that range from targeting lower-income customers – by for the first time using post offices to offer Islamic banking – to expanding the bank outside the Gulf to parts of Africa and Asia.
