John Menzies to rein in spending

John Menzies axed its final dividend and promised to rein in spending as the downturn in the global economy affected its normally fast-growing aviation ground handling business.

Pre-tax profits fell nearly 70 per cent from £31.8m to £9.9m and diluted earnings per share dropped from 44p to a narrow loss of 2p per share.
