Racetrack to wrist: pieces born to be wild

Only recently have the worlds of horology and motorcycling begun to dovetail. It was around eight years ago that Tissot, owned by the Swatch Group, started the ball rolling with the first of a range of affordable watches inspired by the internationally popular Moto GP racing series. And last year the brand’s sponsorship of Kentucky-born Honda rider Nicky Hayden paid off handsomely when he took the world championship title from four-times winner Valentino Rossi.

Tissot recently announced that it will continue to back Mr Hayden, and marked his victory with the introduction of a dedicated version of its quartz T-Race watch, which has a strap, hand tips and hour markers inspired by the vivid orange colour of the star’s Repsol-liveried race bike, and a dial made from carbon fibre, just like some of the machine’s lightweight components.
