Sir, While agreeing with his overall thesis on the diminution of US power post-Bush (who could disagree?), I was appalled by Francis Fukuyama’s casual suggestion that the US should have traded its support for Kosovo's independence for better Russian behaviour over Georgia (“Russia and a new democratic realism”, September 2). This assertion is ignorant of Kosovo’s history but also amoral in its reasoning.
