Samsung forecasts strong quarter as sales recover

Samsung Electronics, the world’s largest maker of memory chips and liquid crystal display screens, on Tuesday unveiled strong earnings guidance for the third quarter after sales of televisions and mobile phones picked up and semiconductor prices rose.

But analysts warned that performance in the December quarter could weaken as the company spends more on marketing and the South Korean won continues to strengthen.
