Cautious ECB leaves interest rates at 1%

The European Central Bank, sounded a note of caution on the eurozone’s economic rebound on Thursday, forecasting only a “very gradual recovery” and hinting that growth could be thrown into reverse again.

Jean-Claude Trichet, ECB president, warned that a “bumpy road” could lie ahead in the 16-country region. Strategies for unwinding emergency measures could be discussed but “it is no time to exit”, he added.
