Hiring freeze prompts further job cuts at Michael Page

Profits at Michael Page have fallen sharply as rising unemployment and a hiring freeze batters the recruitment industry.

With last month’s unemployment claims rising at their fastest rate since 1971, the UK’s second-biggest recruiter was forced to cut its workforce by a further 16 per cent – or 809 jobs.
