Dispute threatens Ulster executive

Gordon Brown travels to Northern Ireland on Tuesday at a critical moment with a dispute over policing threatening the collapse of the power-sharing administration and possible fresh elections.

The prime minister will meet the parties ahead of an executive meeting due to take place on Thursday – the first since Peter Robinson succeeded Ian Paisley as first minister and leader of the Democratic Unionists.
