China in major push to support car sector

China has underscored its determination to become a major exporter of autos and parts with the announcement that eight cities have been designated as special zones for sale overseas of cars and components.

The announcement was made by Bo Xilai, the commerce minister, at a ceremony attended by political heavyweights, including Wu Yi, a vice-premier, and senior officials from the various cities.
