Auditing troubles halt Romanian farms cash

The European Commission has temporarily suspended rural development payments to Romania after identifying "deficiencies" in the country's auditing procedures.

The decision means Romania will not receive money under the European Union's Sapard programme, which provides financing - of some €150m (£118m, $220m) a year in Romania's case - to help the club's new members improve the competitiveness of their agriculture.
