UK pushes emergency debate on internet data

Britain will on Wednesday renew its push for controversial anti-terror laws on storing telecommunications and internet data after last week's attacks on London, in spite of unprecedented opposition in Brussels.

Industry and civil liberties groups have joined the European Commission, MEPs and police in questioning the laws' effectiveness, which will require telephone and e-mail records to be stored for at least a year.
