Asda sparked price-fixing probe

Asda has emerged as the whistleblower that kick-started the Office of Fair Trading’s investigation into alleged price-fixing of consumer goods from food to toiletries.

The supermarket chain, owned by Wal-Mart, the US retail group, will as a result expect immunity from a fine of up to 10 per cent of its revenues should the OFT conclude that a cartel has been operating.
