More agency staff rights will destroy jobs, says CBI

More than 250,000 jobs will be lost if the government is forced to bring in new employment rights for agency and temporary workers, Britain's biggest business organisation warned yesterday.

Business leaders clashed with unions ahead of tomorrow's second reading of a private members' bill, which is opposed by ministers, calling for 1.4m agency and temporary workers to be given the same salary, sick pay, holiday and overtime payments as full-timers.
