Libya to get nuclear power plant

Libya is pushing ahead with plans to set up a nuclear power plant for civilian use with the hope that western nations will provide technical and financial assistance, according to senior Libyan officials.

Matoug Matoug, secretary-general of the General Peoples Committee of manpower, employment and training, told the Financial Times the North African state needed the plant to help meet rising demand for electricity generation and water desalination.
