The opening of Kiki de Montparnasse, a space on Greene Street, in New York's SoHo, was high style. The art and photography included pieces by Man Ray, Bill Brandt, Tom Wesselman, Nobuyoshi Araki, Irving Penn, Robert Mapplethorpe, Thomas Ruff and Cindy Sherman. Many of the works were nudes and if that didn't make the point, the outré lingerie on display put it across.

Kiki de Montparnasse dwells in that zone where sleaze usually reigns. The partners - who include Andrew Pollard and Jennifer Zuccarini - mean to show that the fine arts, the design arts and erotica can form a fruitful partnership.
