Brown vows support for Afghan troops

Gordon Brown, the British prime minister, yesterday promised that international troops would support Afghan forces until Taliban militants were totally removed from their stronghold town of Musa Qala, in the restive southern province of Helmand.

"This is something where working together we can make a difference," Mr Brown said at a press conference with Afghan President Hamid Karzai on the day Afghan and international soldiers recaptured the last town held by the rebels.
