Voters sceptical as Egypt gears up for first contested poll

President Hosni Mubarak launched his bid for a fifth term in office on Wednesday night, promising Egyptians more jobs, better salaries and a stable future under his continuing command.

But as campaigning opened officially for the country's first multi-candidate presidential elections on September 7, many Egyptians remained sceptical it would be a real contest.
