Forty years after the Pirates of the Caribbean ride opened in Disneyland, the third film of the same name will open in May. The leap from theme park to the screen wasan unusual one, albeit accompanied by all the usual merchandising and online spin-offs.
For Pirates of the Caribbean III, however, Walt Disney will go one step further, launching a massive multiplayer online role-playing game, which will allow fans of the ride or the film "to immerse themselves in the world of Pirates" for free, with an option to pay for higher levels of the game.
