Criticism of scheme for SMEs dies down

Business groups that had been highly critical of the government’s flagship scheme to support bank lending to small businesses on Tuesday lauded it as a “model” for future support programmes.

Andrew Cave, head of policy for the Federation of Small Businesses, said that the benefits of the Enterprise Finance Guarantee, launched on January 14, were now coming through.
