Henning Kagermann has as good a vantage point as anyone to watch over his industry.

The co-chief executive of SAP, the enterprise software vendor, has been with the business since 1982. He started there as a product developer for cost accounting and control software. In the intervening 26 years, Prof Kagermann has seen radical change to both SAP’s business and the way companies handle information technology.
