Nigeria fuel marketers resume imports

Nigeria’s fuel marketing companies said on Wednesday they had agreed to resume petrol imports following a decision by the government to start paying hundreds of millions of dollars of subsidy arrears.

The dispute over the payments had caused Nigeria’s worst fuel shortages in years and brought the government of President Umaru Yar’Adua into conflict with some of the country’s richest and most powerful businessmen.
