US inflation remains stubbornly high

US inflation remains stubbornly high, figures released on Thursday showed, underscoring the Federal Reserve’s reluctance to lower interest rates to stimulate sluggish growth.

The central bank’s favoured inflation measure revealed that prices continued to rise at a rate of 0.2 per cent in October, despite Wall Street’s forecast that the core personal consumption expenditure index would rise by only 0.1 per cent.
