Facebook, the burgeoning online social network, on Tuesday made a key appointment, recruiting a former Yahoo and YouTube executive as its chief financial officer.

In a brief statement on Tuesday, the Silicon Valley company said Gideon Yu had “accepted the role of CFO and will be a great addition to Facebook as we continue to grow the company”.
