Bill revives health reform hope in US

Advocates of healthcare reform drew fresh hope on Friday from a new Democratic bill on Capitol Hill at the end of a week in which Barack Obama’s plans suffered heavy dilution because of growing concern over rising budget deficits.

Friday’s bill, which was brought out by Democrats in the House of Representatives, where they have a comfortable majority, follows a march in the opposite direction by centrist figures the Senate, where the narrow Democratic majority gives them greater sway.
