Sir, The complexity and costs of US regulation have been the subject of much hand-wringing by companies and advisers, who look longingly at the "light touch" of the UK regime. This is being echoed at high level in recent comments by Hank Paulson, the US Treasury secretary, who is opening a wider debate about the American way.
