Environment: Saying no to Kyoto

Australia is one the world’s biggest users and exporters of mineral fuels, and in a country where environmental issues play strongly with the electorate, the government has had to walk a fine line between protecting the environment and harming the economy.

The polarised environmental debate has satisfied neither side, but it has opened a policy direction that has begun to find favour in other nations facing the same dilemma.
