A boom in defence spending and civil aircraft manufacturing helped Meggitt lift first-half revenues 10 per cent.

The aerospace component supplier saw sales rise from £325.9m to £358.9m in the six months to June 30. Underlying profits, which excluded its $1.8bn (£900m) acquisition of US competitor K&F, rose 11 per cent to £69m, while the pre-tax line slipped slightly from £65.4m to £64.9m.
