Academia fails to foster start-ups

Only 11 per cent of students in UK universities are involved in setting up businesses or studying entrepreneurship, compared with more than 50 per cent in the US, according to a survey.

The findings suggest that UK academia has a long way to go to catch up with the US, where students have set up mould-breaking businesses such as Google and Facebook virtually from their college dorms.
