Shiseido and JT look to overseas markets

Japan’s consumer goods makers are increasingly looking overseas for growth, amid weak consumption at home, and despite the negative impact of a strong yen.

Shiseido, the country’s leading cosmetics company, on Thursday announced an 11 per cent net profit decline in the first half, but forecast a 60 per cent increase in full-year net profits due largely to strong growth in China.
