Iranian consulate worker shot dead in Peshawar

A senior Pakistani official working for the Iranian consulate in the northern city of Peshawar was killed on Thursday in an armed attack that prompted fresh concerns over mounting tensions between the neighbouring countries.

Abul Hassan Jaffery, the head of public relations at the Iranian consulate general, was injured in an attack by unknown gunmen when he was heading to his office. He later died in hospital.
