C&C blames weak economy for slumping sales

C&C Group, the Irish owner of the Magners cider brand, on Friday warned that its first-half profits would be worse than expected, blaming Britain’s slumping economy for lower cider sales.

The Dublin-based company said its interim financial results would be at the “low” end of expectations when it releases them on October 9, and cautioned “difficult market conditions” would continue.
