Economy: Resources boom may mask problems

These are heady days for the Australian economy, which is poised to record its 15th consecutive year of growth. The expansion, the longest in the country’s history, has pushed unemployment to a 30-year low and created unprecedented levels of prosperity.

However, growth has dipped below its recent annual average of 4 per cent thanks to poor export volumes and a decline in housing construction.
