US told not to block expertise on F-35

Britain could pull out of the Pentagon's Joint Strike Fighter programme if the US does not agree to share crucial technology associated with the fighter jet, the top UK military procurement official said yesterday.

Lord Drayson, UK minister of defence for procurement, said Britain could not proceed to the next phase of the $240bn (€200bn, £138bn) next generation F-35 fighter jet unless Washington agreed to share technology needed to ensure "operational sovereignty".
