Kravis exit an omen for Black

The unexpected resignation of Marie-Josée Kravis, the economist and wife of ­billionaire financier Henry Kravis, from Hollinger International’s board in October 2003 was one of the earliest indicators Conrad Black’s life was about to take an irrevocable turn.

At the time, her departure appeared to be an attempt by Mrs Kravis to distance herself from a growing scandal at Lord Black’s newspaper company.
