Bank reviews money market operations

The stigma of borrowing from central banks has become so great since the summer, the Bank of England on Tuesday launched a root-and-branch review of its money market operations .

The move comes as the Bank’s auction of £10bn of three-month money was fully subscribed with an average interest rate of 5.95 per cent, compared with its official rate of 5.5 per cent.
