Internet trading faces Revenue clamp

The Revenue plans to clamp down on people selling on auction sites if they cannot prove they are making a one-off transaction and are not trading, Blick Rothenberg, a firm of London accountants, warned yesterday.

People who have been selling tickets on eBay and other online auction sites for seats for the Ashes series between England and Australia, an increasingly popular activity this summer, could find themselves attracting the interest of Revenue & Customs.
