New blood but no revolution at Unilever

After nearly 80 years, Unilever has broken its unwritten rule and appointed an outsider as chief executive.

Paul Polman's arrival at Unilever House in October will be quite a moment for the maker of Dove shampoo and Lipton tea. It was only in 2006 the company had its first outsider as chairman. As of 2009, the top two will be fresh blood.
