Coordinated car bombs attacks in Iraq

Up to 50 people were killed in three apparently coordinated car bomb attacks in the mixed Shi’ite and Sunni Arab town of Balad north of Baghdad on Thursday, Iraqi police sources said.

One source in the regional police force put the death toll at 37 dead and 50 wounded. Others spoke of 50 dead and up to 100 wounded.
